Transahara festival in Morocco
The Global Village Productions crew have recently returned from thier Trans-Saharian Arabian adventure! Nomad's Tribe presented: Transahara,: Dunes Can Dance, Morocco's only Sahara Trance and Techno festival, was located near in Merzouga, Morocco. This year was the festival's 6th edition, and by overwhelming majority agreement, the best yet. The festival was a hidden gem of an oasis of colour, culture, and consciousness, hidden at the base of the Yasmin Dunes.
People could ride a deromitor (camel with one hump), climb the dunes, swim in the pool, stay in a bedouin tent or in a luxury hotel room, eat Moroccan style buffet cusine, watch glourious skies change throughout the day, and all while listening to some of the world's best Techno and Trance, in an oasis which was out of this world!
The rolling dunes of the Sahara desert began behind the Main Stage of this festival, which was a short walk from luxury desert hotel accommodation. The hotel courtyard boasted stunning veiws of the dunes from an Alternative pool-side dancefloor that rocked House, Techno, and Progressive vibes all day and night. In the cool comfort of the Hotel Bar and Lounge was the Chill Out room, adorned with Sacred Geometry Hindu Gods, Moroccan cuisions, soft drapery, and smooth groves throughout the nights.
The Global Village Decor crew provided a stunning shade cover canopy built as a mandala of diamonds, with a central stem of multi-layered fabric airbrushed with yantras and intersectiing geomtery lines. The floor was surrounded by Arabic-esque pillars in soft blending colours, which at night pulsed with controlled LED lighting effects. The LED control throughout the arena was a stunning display of technological genius as well as creative flair. The lights were mixed and coordinated live throughout every night, and suited the music, the vibe, and the atmosphere.
The stage and surrounding arena was designed with a "MadMax" theme, to giving the sense of a lost civilization in the desert. Art Director "Celio" and creative metal works sculpting team "Lugu", created a raw tribal mechanical environment to suit the rugged and unforgiving nature of the desert. This complimented and contrasted with the full colour core that was the heart of the dancefloor, and pulsed with energy day and night.
The GVP crew enjoyed this challenge! Throughout rigging, they battled sandstorms and soaked up sunrays, built a frame to withstand all of nature's awesome power, shaded and protected the party goers from the elements, and in the end, returned home tired, but content and exhilarated, and especially sun tanned. They thank the promoter and the Nomad's Tribe crew, and all of the punters who came so far to dance in the desert sun, shade, sand and rain within this unique global village.
